Maryam Saeedifard has been appointed to the Dean’s Professorship, effective July 1. This professorship resides in the College of Engineering Dean’s Office at Georgia Tech.
Saeedifard is an associate professor and has been a member of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) faculty since 2014. She came to Tech after spending four years on the ECE faculty at Purdue University. Saeedifard specializes in power electronics and its applications to address the grand challenges in grid integration, transmission, storage, and use of renewable energy resources and vehicle electrification. Her research is supported by the National Science Foundation, the Power System Engineering Research Center, ARPA-E, GE Global Research, Power America, Airbus, the Electric Power Research Institute, the U.S. Department of Energy, MathWorks, and Oak Ridge National Laboratories. She and her team have published 75 refereed journal articles and 95 refereed conference papers.
Saeedifard is the co-editor-in-chief of the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, one of the most impactful journals in this field. She is currently a member-at-large for both the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) and the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES). Saeedifard has also been a leader for the IEEE Energy Conversion Conference and Exposition and the IEEE Workshop on Wide-Band-Gap Devices and Applications, and she has served as the chair of Women in Engineering in IEEE PELS.
Saeedifard is the recipient of several prestigious IEEE awards, including the IEEE Region 3 Outstanding Engineer Award (2019), the IEEE IES J. David Irwin Early Career Award (2018), and the Outstanding Young Engineer Award, presented by the Atlanta Chapter of the IEEE Power Engineering Society (2015). She was the recipient of the Excellence in Research Award from the Office of the Vice President for Research at Purdue in 2012 and 2011. Her team has received several Prize Paper Awards from the IEEE Trans. on Power Electronics and IEEE Trans. on Industrial Electronics. Earlier this year, she was honored with the ECE Outstanding Mid-Career Faculty Member Award at the Roger P. Webb Awards Program.
