Hua Wang has been appointed to the Demetrius T. Paris Junior Professorship in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Georgia Tech, effective August 15. ECE Associate Professor Christopher J. Rozell previously held this title.

Wang joined the faculty in January 2012 after working with Intel and Skyworks Solutions. He is a member of the Georgia Electronic Design Center, and he leads the Georgia Tech Electronics and Micro-System (GEMS) Lab, where he advises a team of six Ph.D. students, three M.S. students, and several undergraduate researchers. They are developing design methodologies for silicon-based THz electronics, reconfigurable RF circuits and systems for wireless communications and radar, multi-modality biosensors and actuators for cell-based drug screening and large-scale stem cell manufacturing, and real-time 3-D guided surgery technologies.

Wang has published 40 refereed journal and conference papers and has been issued 13 U.S. patents. He and his team have received numerous honors, including several best student paper and student design awards, and he serves on technical program committees for several highly regarded conferences. Wang also chairs the IEEE Atlanta joint chapter of the Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS) and Circuits and Systems Society (CAS).

An enthusiastic advocate for high quality teaching and student mentoring, Wang will take part in the Class of 1969 Teaching Scholars Program, run by the Georgia Tech Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL), during this upcoming year. He is also a past participant in CETL’s Class of 1969 Teaching Fellows Program.
