Mouhyemen Khan was chosen for third place in the Nokia Bell Labs Intern Program 2020 for Outstanding Innovation. Khan is a Ph.D. student in the Georgia Tech School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE).
Khan’s research looked at how to ensure an aerial robot's flight remains operational in the presence of latencies. These aerial robots typically communicate with other ground/aerial robots over a cloud-based infrastructure. While the cloud-based infrastructure provides network and computational benefits, latencies become an inevitable phenomenon. This especially poses a challenge to safety-critical aerial robots.
Khan has been a member of the Low-power, Adaptive, and Resilient Systems Laboratory since January 2019, and he is advised by ECE Professor Abhijit Chatterjee. Khan received his bachelor of science degree in ECE from Texas A&M University.
The Nokia Bell Labs 2020 Summer Internship Program was entirely virtual and took place between last June through August. In addition to working on their research projects, interns had many opportunities to engage with Nokia Bell Labs leaders and researchers, both in one-on-one mentoring sessions and in larger symposia.
