Gary May will receive the 2010 Outstanding Alumni Award in Electrical Engineering from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California at Berkeley, where he earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in 1988 and 1991, respectively.

Dr. May will receive this honor during the Letters and Science Computer Science Commencement at the University of California at Berkeley on May 17. The award recognizes valuable contributions made by distinguished UC Berkeley alumni for outstanding performance in research and engineering achievements, leadership in the profession and public affairs, and service and support to the university.

A faculty member in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech since 1991, Dr. May is currently the Steve W. Chaddick School Chair in ECE. The School has the largest undergraduate and graduate programs of their kinds in the U.S., with almost 2,400 students enrolled.

"Gary has spent many years of hard work and dedication in advancing electrical and computer engineering education and research at Georgia Tech," said Don Giddens, dean of the College of Engineering at Georgia Tech. "He is a true ambassador for the engineering profession, and we are honored to have him in the College of Engineering."
