Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering (WECE) received a 5-Star Organization Award at the Up with the White and Gold Ceremony held on April 23 at the Student Center Ballroom.
WECE won this award for their high level of activity and engagement with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Georgia Tech. Established in 2004 by a group of five women students, WECE has created a community within the School where women–from undergraduates to Ph.D. students–can seek friendship, support, and advice regarding their academic, professional, and personal development.
A sampling of their events includes social activities such as their annual Halloween Party, Holiday Party (co-hosted with Eta Kappa Nu and IEEE), and Bowling Party; outreach events such as the FIRST LEGO League Tournament, Family Weekend, Introduce a Girl to Engineering, and Team Buzz and Tech Beautification Day; information sessions with different companies; and professional and academic workshops focused on dressing for success, career fair and resume preparation, applying for graduate school, and topical seminars given by ECE faculty members.
Congratulations to WECE for having such a successful year and for receiving this award!
