ECE Associate Professor Linda M. Wills has been chosen as a recipient of the Women in Engineering (WIE) Teaching Excellence Award.
Linda M. Wills has been chosen as a recipient of the Women in Engineering (WIE) Teaching Excellence Award. She will receive this honor at the WIE Banquet to be held on April 10 at the Georgia Tech Hotel Ballroom.
The WIE Banquet brings together students, faculty, alumni, corporate partners, and Institute leaders to recognize and celebrate student and faculty leaders at Georgia Tech and all female engineering students who have a minimum 3.0 GPA. The WIE Teaching Excellence Award was determined by a vote of current female undergraduate engineering students. According to WIE, it is based on the “belief that the learning environment is enhanced by professors who care, and that this increases student participation and retention.” Wills was chosen as one of the two recipients, along with James Dahlman, an assistant professor in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering.
“I am honored to have been chosen for this award by the students!” said Wills. “Their creative ability to rise to difficult challenges is energizing. I enjoy providing the space for students to navigate these challenges with serenity and a sense of playfulness.”
Wills, an associate professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been honored with two other education-related awards at Georgia Tech. Along with Scott Wills, she received the Georgia Tech Faculty Award for Outstanding Innovative Use of Education Technology in 2009. She was also honored with the Richard M. Bass/Eta Kappa Nu Outstanding Teacher Award in 2010; recipients of this award are determined by a majority vote of the senior class.
