Dr. McClellan received the B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from L.S.U. in 1969, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Rice University in 1972 and 1973, respectively. From 1973 to 1982, he was a member of the research staff at MIT Lincoln Laboratory and then a professor at MIT. From 1982 to 1987, he was employed by Schlumberger Well Services.

Dr. McClellan retired in May 2020 after at 33-year career at Georgia Tech. He had been a member of the ECE faculty since 1987.
