Some of the Georgia Tech School of Electrical and Computer Engineering's most outstanding students, staff, and faculty were recognized at the 2025 Roger P. Webb Awards Program on Tuesday, April 8.

For the first time ever, the event was held at the Georgia Tech Alumni House. The School also introduced a Teaching Excellence Award for Non-Tenure Track Faculty and formally recognized student nominees for Institute-level awards.

Professor Gabriel Rincón-Mora was honored with the most prestigious and final award of the ceremony, the Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award, for his career achievements and sustained contributions to his field and ECE.

HKN Outstanding Computer Engineering Sophomore Award

Eta Kappy Nu (HKN), the honor society for ECE, recognizes the computer engineering student who is in their second year and who has the highest scholastic average.

Electrical Engineering Junior Scholar Award

This award recognizes the academic excellence and outstanding involvement in co- and extra- curricular activities of an electrical engineering student who is about to enter their senior year of study.

Dinuk De Silva

HKN Outstanding Electrical Engineering Senior Award

Eta Kappa Nu (HKN), the honor society for ECE, recognizes the senior electrical engineering student who has a very high scholastic average and who plays an active role in extracurricular activities.

Yoonsang Lee

ECE Undergraduate Research Award

This award recognizes an electrical or computer engineering undergraduate student who has demonstrated an unusually strong aptitude for research.

Vishnu Vardhan Rao Sivampeta

ECE Faculty Award

This award is given to the electrical or computer engineering student who, in the opinion of the ECE faculty, has done the most to improve the educational environment within ECE.

Susannah Gordon

Electrical Engineering Senior Scholars

This award is presented to the electrical engineering seniors who have earned a 4.0 GPA during their entire academic career. This year, 17 electrical engineering students qualified for the award.

Academic Spotlight Award

This award is presented to the researcher, classified employee, or general faculty member who has made a significant contribution to the ECE teaching or academic program.

Teresa Watkins

Teaching Excellence Award for Non-Tenure Track Faculty

This award recognizes the exceptional performance by an instructor, who is not a tenure track faculty member, in teaching excellence, pedagogical innovation, subject matter expertise, communication skills, student engagement, and mentorship and support.

Lakshmi Raju

D. Scott Wills Mentoring Award

This award honors a faculty member whose mentoring of junior faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and Ph.D. students — in connection with teaching or research activities — over an extended period of time is judged to be exceptional.

This award is presented to an associate professor or full professor that is no more than 10 years past their appointment to associate professor. The award recognizes exceptional performance in research, teaching, and service. There were two winners:
